Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Second Half Rally Fall Shorts at U.S.M.M.A.

The men's soccer team lost 3-1 to the Mariners from the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday evening in King's Point, New York.

The Mariners from the Skyline Conference broke open a tight contest early with a goal in the 38th minute to enter the halftime break 1-0.

They added to their advantage five minutes into the second half for a seemingly comfortable 2-0 score, but the visiting Bearcats kept things interesting scoring in the 75th minute on a goal by John Ananoria that was assisted by Jemali Zarnadze.

The Bearcats kept pushing for the tying goal but the Mariners caught a break in the 82nd minute on a Bearcat own goal to put the match out of reach 3-1.

The Mariners won the shots category 15-5 for the home victory on a busy Homecoming Day on their campus.  

The Bearcats will enjoy a brief break and resume action next Saturday with a 10:00 a.m. non-conference home match against Saint Elizabeth at Randall's Island Field #10.
