Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Defeats CCNY (7-1) on Bearcats Appreciation Day

The men's soccer team scored seven goals and honored nine players on Bearcats Appreciation Day during a 7-1 home win on Saturday afternoon against CCNY at Randall's Island Field #70.

The Bearcats took control from the first whistle out-shooting the Beavers 35-5 while jumping out to a 4-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-1 record in the CUNYAC.

Arman Celebi had another multiple goal match with two goals, while Daniel Fomenko, Julio Ramirez, Daniel Grishin, Zyde Nawabi, and Taner Ceylan each scored one goal in the home victory on a rainy Saturday afternoon.Celebi now has 10 goals this season to lead CUNYAC.

Kosi Mbadiwe had a big afternoon with three assists while still busy playing center-back in anchoring the defense. Grishin had two assists in addition to his goal. 

Hazim Naji scored CCNY's only goal in the second half. CCNY goalkeepers today combined for 12 saves as the Baruch offense attacked all afternoon. 

After the match, the Bearcats squad, coaches and athletic department honored Ammar Ahmedshaker, Wessam Farag, Daniel Fomenko, Daniel Grishin, Luis Madriz, Ansen Novak, Frank Shkreli, Julio Ramirez, and Vladimir Shyra on Bearcats Appreciation Day as they play in their final season.    

The team will next play against Lehman College on Wednesday in the regular-season-finale. Please note this match will now be played at the Columbia University Soccer Complex and will kick off at 4:30 p.m. The name of the stadium at Columbia is Rocco Commisso Soccer Stadium.
