Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Defeat Hunter in Semifinal, Return to Play in 4th CUNYAC Final in 5 Years

The men's soccer team will play in their third straight championship match and fourth in five years after defeating Hunter College, 3-2, in a CUNYAC semifinal played on a warm Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island Field #70.

The rival Hawks scored first early at 4:49, but the Bearcats leveled though Kosi Mbadiwe at 21:49 for an eventual 1-1 halftime score.

Luis Madriz put the visiting Bearcats ahead right after the break at 47:54 on double assists from Frank Shkreli and Diego Sachun.

They added what would stand as the winner on his second goal of the afternoon by Mbadiwe at 67:23 to take control 3-1, but the Hawks kept it interesting late cutting the advantage to 3-2 on a goal by Alpha Barry at 85:20.

Time ran out as the defense stood strong for the 3-2 win with goalkeeper Jon Legasa recording four saves.  

The Bearcats attempted 15 shots, compared to just six by the Hawks, in avenging a regular season 5-1 loss back on October 11.

The Bearcats will play Brooklyn College next Saturday at 1:30pm in a neutral site championship match at Queens College.
