Men's Basketball Defeats Lehman in CUNYAC Battle for First Place

The men's basketball team defeated the Lightning of Lehman College 68-63 in a CUNYAC home contest on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

With the result, the Bearcats take over sole possession of first place with one game left in the regular season schedule (Tuesday home vs John Jay).

As expected, the teams battled all night with each owning leads, but Sean Donnellan came up big scoring all 10 of his points late in the second half with two big threes and two layups for decisive baskets to pull out the home win.

Donnellan's last basket, a layup with 1:26 left, gave the Bearcats a 62-59 lead and Emil Purisic was perfect at the free throw line (6-for-6) in the final minute to seal the 68-63 win.

The bench was also a factor this evening out-scoring Lehman 32-9 in that vital category.

Devin Nicholson led the team with 16 points shooting 3-of-4 from three.

Purisic finished with a double-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Sayeed Osorio (three steals) had 11 points and Donnellan finished with 10 with six assists.

Isaiah Geathers led the visitors with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
