Bearcats Post 4th Straight CUNYAC Shutout, Defeat Brooklyn 1-0

The men's soccer team recorded their fourth straight CUNYAC shutout defeating the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College 1-0 in a contest on Saturday afternoon.

The host Bulldogs dominated in shots (14-5) and corner kicks (9-3) but couldn't find the hole in the Bearcats' outstanding defense.

Behind the solid defense of goalkeeper Jon Legasa and back line of defenders Christopher Gjini, Ruslan Semenko, Ammar Ahmedshaker, Angus Xavier, and Joseph Mignone, the visiting Bearcats posted their fourth straight clean sheet (shutout) in four CUNYAC matches this season to take sole possession of first place midway through the conference schedule.

Arman Celebi recorded his fifth career-winning goal scoring at 48:16 on another well placed assist by Ammar Ahmedshaker. The goal was Celebi's 23rd career goal as a Bearcat. 

Legasa earns his sixth career shutout as the Bearcats stay undefeated in the conference.

NOTES: Dating back to last season, the Bearcats now have seven wins, one loss, one draw in their last nine CUNYAC matches...This season, the Bearcats have recorded four straight CUNYAC shutouts but counting last year's CUNYAC championship (won 2-0), it is five straight matches without allowing a goal. The last CUNYAC goal against was on October 28, 2023 (CUNYAC semifinal, won 3-2)...The Bearcats next Wednesday will host Hunter College at the Division I Soccer Facility (Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium) at Columbia University.
