Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Stays Undefeated in CUNYAC, Defeat Rival Hunter (2-1)

The men's soccer team took 27 total shots and Arman Celebi scored a brace (two goals) as the Bearcats recorded a 2-1 home CUNYAC victory against rival Hunter College in a match played on Wednesday night at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium at Columbia University.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 17 minutes thanks to two quick goals scored by Celebi.

The first goal was a right-footed shot at 14:00 that got past the Hunter GK with a double assist from Andrew Kinal and Mitchel Frenkel.

The second goal came just three minutes and 26 seconds later as Celebi scored on a header off an assist from Ammar Ahmedshaker.

Hunter cut the score on an unassisted goal by Bradley Espejo at 31:25 for a 2-1 halftime score that would not change in the second half.

The Bearcats did hit the right post and crossbar late in the match that almost added to the lead but didn't to the frustration of the bench.

They totaled 27 total shots, including a 15-5 advantage in the second half.

Goalkeeper Jon Legasa made five saves in the home victory at the first division soccer field at Columbia University.

NOTES: The Bearcats defense continues to be solid with only one goal conceded in their five CUNYAC matches this season...The Bearcats have now recorded six straight positive results with five wins and one draw...Daniel Fomenko (Player) and Andreas Kotronis (Rookie) earned CUNYAC Top Honors this week.
