Bearcats and CCNY Draw 1-1 on Bearcats Appreciation Day

The men's soccer team faced off in an inter-conference match up against the City College of New York (CCNY).

The match was played at Randall's Island Field #10 on a warm Saturday afternoon.

Both teams were battling for first place in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), but the match ended with a tied result of 1-1.

The Bearcats now hold a 5-5-3 (wins-losses-draws) overall record on the season and remain undefeated in the CUNYAC at 4-0-2. There is currently a three-way tie for first place with the Bearcats, CCNY and Lehman with one match left on Wednesday.

The sun wasn't the only thing that was hot today as the Bearcats' tremendous effort on offense led to a huge goal by Mohamed Nasr and assisted by Matt Prusan at the 61:11 mark.

The Bearcats also had two really good scoring opportunities during the second half, the first by Diego Sachun at the 45:18 mark and another by Samuel Jacobs at the 77:57 mark, but both were saved by CCNY's GK.

CCNY leveled the match at 76:21 through Peter Gjini who beat the defense with a shot from the right side of the box. Peter is the brother of Baruch defender Christopher Gjini who were playing against each other this afternoon in front of family and friends.

Bearcats' GK Jon Legasa was great on defense recording two big saves coming at the 54:34 and 75:29 marks to help the eventual draw.

The Bearcats ended the match by honoring their graduating players on Bearcats Appreciation Day. Honored after the match were Christopher Gjini, Arman Celebi, Matt Prusan, Mohamed Nasr, Alan Nikaj, Ruslan Semenko, Carl Kieri, Andrew Kinal and Rajay Officer.
