MBB Run Past CCNY, Bearcats 8-1 in CUNYAC, Trevon Coppin Career-High 28 Pts

The men's basketball team went on the road Friday night to record an 87-73 victory at CCNY in the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

The visiting Bearcats have enjoyed playing in the Nat Holman Gymnasium, recording a 21-1 winning record since 2003. Tonight, they added another win.

They built up a 38-32 halftime lead and then started the second half leading by as much as 52-34. The Beavers charged back to get as close as 56-53 with 10:44 left in the second half.

The Bearcats kept their composure and built the lead back up to 72-60 and later 81-64 with under four minutes left, improving to 8-1 in the CUNYAC standings.

Rookie Trevon Coppin had a great night with a career-high 28 points (11-for-14 FG), eight rebounds, and four steals.

Brandon Goldberg was a force in the paint with a double-double of 26 points (8-for-12 FG) and 15 rebounds. Gerard Nicholson added 19 points (4-for-6 3fg) and Jack Gordon added eight.

The Bearcats shot 68 percent (19-for-28 FG) in the second half to hand their Beavers the home loss.

Justin Morety led the home team with 23 points and seven assists.
