The women's basketball team dropped its home opener on Wednesday night, falling 72–59 to the Roadrunners of Ramapo College at the ARC Arena.
The final margin didn't reflect the competitiveness of the game, as Ramapo used a decisive 15–4 run over the final 4:50 to break a 55–55 tie and secure the road victory. The Roadrunners also caught fire from long range in the fourth quarter, connecting on 4-of-6 from three.
Baruch opened the night with energy, building a 10-point lead (31–21) before Ramapo closed the gap and edged ahead 32–31 at the half. The teams traded baskets throughout the third and early fourth quarters until the visitors pulled away late.
Isabella Kostyal-Larrier paced the Bearcats with a career-high 20 points (7-for-14 FG). Lola Idir added 14 points and matched her career best with nine rebounds, while Lilliana Torres contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high six steals. Brianna Lopez chipped in nine points and six boards in a balanced effort.
Ramapo's Emma Cartwright led all scorers with 21 points as one of three Roadrunners in double figures.
The Bearcats return to action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Yeshiva University at home in the ARC Arena.
