MBB Defeats Medgar Evers at Home, Improve to 2-0 in CUNYAC

The men's basketball team played against the Medgar Evers Cougars at home on Thursday evening and registered a victory to improve to 2-0 in the CUNYAC.

The Bearcats went into halftime up by just one (34-33) after having as much as an eight point lead (22-14) at one point in the first half.

Both teams saw four ties during the second half and the Cougars even managed to take a brief lead (43-41).

The game was later tied at 45 but the Bearcats went on a 7-0 run that was initiated after two made free-throws from Leyi Adebayo to jump ahead 52-45.

They took their biggest lead of the game (72-60) after a trifecta by Peter Douvres to put the game out of reach for the visiting Cougars en route to a 77-68 home victory.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

Leyi Adebayo deposited a season and Baruch career-high 24 points on an efficient 9-of-12 from field, which included two treys.

Jack Gordon went 10-of-11 from the charity stripe to chip in 16 total points.

Peter Douvres finished with 13 points on five-of-six shooting from the field, including two baskets from downtown in the second half.

The Bearcats' will play at home again on Saturday with a non-conference contest against Albertus Magnus College at 3:00 p.m.
