The men's basketball team traveled up Lexington Avenue on Friday night and earned a 70–59 victory over rival Hunter College at the Hunter Sportsplex.
The matchup served as the Bearcats' first game of the 2025–26 CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) regular-season schedule.
The opening half was tightly contested, but a three-pointer by Peter Douvres just before the halftime gave the visiting Bearcats a 31–28 lead at the break.
Baruch carried that momentum into the second half, shooting a strong 58 percent (11-of-19) and outscoring the Hawks 16–9 over the final seven minutes to secure the win. With the result, the Bearcats improved to 26–3 in their last 29 CUNYAC regular-season contests.
Five different players scored at least nine points, led by Jack Gordon with a game-high 19. Leyi Adebayo followed with 17, Trevon Coppin added 12, and both Nicholas Lam and Douvres contributed nine apiece. Coppin and Adebayo nearly posted double-doubles, each finishing with nine rebounds.
Hunter's John Paul Maaba led the Hawks with 18 points and seven assists.
The Bearcats return to action next Thursday, December 11, for a 7:30 p.m. CUNYAC home contest against Medgar Evers College.
