The Baruch Bearcats picked up a road victory on Tuesday night, defeating John Jay College 73–63 in CUNYAC action.
Baruch shot efficiently from long range, knocking down 11-of-21 three-point attempts. After a jumper by Nicholas Lam gave the Bearcats an 8–6 edge, Baruch seized control and never relinquished the lead. The Bearcats built momentum throughout the first half, opening up an 18-point advantage at 33–15 before taking a comfortable 37-24 lead into the break.
Baruch continued its strong play in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 24 points at 55–31. John Jay made a late push down the stretch, but the Bloodhounds were unable to close the gap any further as Baruch held on for the 10-point conference win.
Trevon Coppin led the Bearcats with another double-double, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jack Gordon added 13 points, while Cole Bailey provided a spark off the bench, scoring 10 points in 15 minutes of action. Lam contributed across the board, recording a career-high six steals to go along with five rebounds and four assists.
Jamir Stewart paced John Jay with 14 points, leading four Bloodhounds in double-figure scoring.
The Bearcats will return home on Thursday night for the always exciting Battle of Lexington against Hunter College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
