The men's basketball team traveled to Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn to compete in a CUNYAC showdown on Friday evening.
The Bearcats opened the game with two quick layups (4-0) and took a double-figure lead (19-9) after two free throws by Brandon Sun with 8:58 left before halftime.
The Cougars quickly brought the Bearcats' lead down to two (19-17), but Leyi Adebayo knocked down a free throw and a layup to stretch the lead back to five (22-17).
The Bearcats ended the first half leading 41-26, shooting 17-for-34 from the field.
Nicholas Lam sunk a three-pointer to give the squad their first basket of the second half after Medgar Evers cut the lead to 10 (41-31).
Peter Douvres later nailed a three-pointer to give the Bearcats their largest lead of the game (59-33) and they never looked back en route to their fifth conference win of the season winning 74-53.
Lam led the way with 16 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field while adding four assists and three steals. Douvres and Jack Gordon finished with 11 points each.
Boubacar Mbaye led the home team Cougars at the Cougar Cave with 15 points.
The Bearcats' next matchup will be on January 30, at 7:30 p.m., against Brooklyn College in the ARC Arena.
