Bearcats Finish Second in CUNYAC, Mia Castillo Scores Triple-Double on Bearcats Appreciation Night

The Bearcats played their final game of the regular season against the Lehman College Lightning on Tuesday at the ARC Arena.

On Bearcats' Appreciation Night, three players (Mia Castillo, Angela Bacarella, and Elissa Leung) were honored with their families at half court.

The squad celebrated its seniors with a bang, winning 79-60 to clinch second place in the CUNYAC standings. Next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. they will host a semifinal.

In the first quarter, it was a low-scoring, high-intensity battle. Lola Idir drained two 3-pointers, and Mia Castillo had three steals.

The squad went into halftime leading 31-23.

They did not lose momentum in the second half. They took their first double-digit lead at the 8:24 mark of the third quarter and kept it that way for most of the second half.

Castillo recorded her seventh career triple-double with 24 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. 

Elissa Leung tallied 25 points (10-18 FG). Idir had a near double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

Lillianna Morales grabbed 11 rebounds. Precious Mitchell had eight rebounds.

Heaven Figueroa scored 31 points for the Lightning.

The Bearcats will wait to discover their next opponent for the CUNYAC semifinals. They will play the quarterfinal winner between Brooklyn and Medgar Evers next Tuesday.
