Softball Hosts Successful PINK OUT Game, Defeat Lehman In CUNYAC Doubleheader

The softball team recorded three important victories on Saturday afternoon at Lehman College in the Bronx. 

The Bearcats first hosted their PINK OUT game to raise Awareness for Breast Cancer. The squad raised funds, represented the day by wearing pink uniforms, and then went out and won two very tough contests in a doubleheader sweep of Lehman College. 

Caroline Gallagher pitched the complete game win, going the full seven innings, allowing no runs, no walks, and striking out three in the 4-0 victory

The team scored its first run in the opening inning, with Ava Lavery scoring on a wild pitch. Then, in the fifth inning, they added three more, with RBI singles from Jules Wychunas and Lavery increasing the lead to 4-0, which was the final result. 

The second game was a pitchers' duel, but Reina Castro-Johnson came out on top with the win, going seven innings, allowing six hits, only three earned runs, and eight strikeouts as the Bearcats won in a seventh-inning walk-off.

The Lightning rallied twice to tie the game, but the Bearcats won in their last at-bat as Wychunas singled and reached second on a fielding error. That set up Leilani Jimenez, and she smacked an RBI single for the victory as the Bearcats improved to 5-1 in the CUNYAC.
