The women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, shutting out Albertus Magnus College, 7-0, in their home opener at the Queens College Tennis Courts in Flushing, New York.
The Bearcats opened the match by taking all three doubles points, highlighted by a convincing 6-0 victory at first doubles from Aishika Yadav and Maria Calvo Prado.
They carried that momentum into singles play, where they won all six matches to secure the sweep in the seven-point format. Maria Rojas was near perfect at fourth singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Mariam Ghanem was equally dominant at fifth singles with a 6-0, 6-2 result.
The most dramatic match of the day came at third singles, where Doyeong Lee battled for a thrilling 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 victory in a tie-break.
Albertus Magnus, competing in its first season as an associate member of CUNYAC women's tennis, was unable to capture a point but gained valuable early-season experience.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, September 19, with another CUNYAC home matchup against Lehman College at 4:00 p.m.
