The women's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 contest to the Valiants of Manhattanville University on Tuesday afternoon at the Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.
The Bearcats opened the match on a strong note, winning two of the three doubles flights to secure the opening doubles point. Aishika Yadav and Maria Calvo Prado clinched a thrilling 7-6 win at first doubles, taking the tiebreak 7-3, while Margaret Kensinger and Malika Khaknazarova earned a solid 6-2 victory at third doubles.
In singles play, Yadav continued her dominant performance with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles, and Kensinger followed with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at sixth singles. Despite these efforts, the Valiants claimed the remaining four singles matches to edge out the Bearcats 4-3 in the seven-point format.
The Bearcats will return to action this weekend as Yadav and Calvo Prado travel to Saratoga Springs, New York, to compete at the ITA Regionals hosted by Skidmore College. The event will feature some of the top players from across the Northeast.
