The women's volleyball team earned a thrilling 3-1 victory (26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23) over the Centenary University Cyclones on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.
The night was highlighted by junior setter Karen Pozo Castro, who became just the sixth player in program history to record 1,000 career assists, reaching the milestone early in the first set. She went on to deliver a season-high 40 assists along with four service aces in the home win.
The Bearcats showcased a balanced attack, finishing with 53 kills compared to 42 for the Cyclones. Dibjot Kaur led the way with a stellar all-around performance of 15 kills, 17 digs, and two aces. Karolina Lundqvist added 11 kills, including the match-clinching point in the fourth set, while rookies Ella Wang and Alicia Graves chipped in nine kills apiece.
On defense, Pei Qiong Ren anchored the back row with 21 digs, and rookie Ava Tartour collected a career-high 13 digs.
For the visitors, Poppy Skjonnemand posted a match-high 19 kills with 12 digs to pace the Cyclones from New Jersey.
The Bearcats won all three of their sets by just two points, showcasing grit and composure in the win.
The squad will look to carry the momentum into CUNYAC play next Tuesday, October 7, when they host Brooklyn College at 6:00 p.m. in the ARC Arena.
