The men's basketball team fell 61–52 to the Lightning of Lehman College on Wednesday night at the ARC Arena.
Lehman jumped out to a fast start, building a 23–6 advantage over the opening 11 minutes. Baruch responded with a strong late push in the first half, trimming the deficit to eight points, 32–24, after a three-pointer from Brandon Sun in the final minute before halftime.
The Bearcats continued their comeback after the break and briefly took the lead (39-37) when Daniel Haire connected from beyond the arc with 12:47 remaining. The teams battled back and forth, eventually tying the game at 43–43 with 9:40 left to play. Lehman then seized momentum, scoring 11 of the next 15 points to open up a 54–47 lead with 5:44 remaining.
Baruch cut the deficit to four points, 54–50, but timely baskets down the stretch allowed the Lightning to secure the 61–52 victory.
Jack Gordon led the Bearcats with 15 points. Peter Douvres and Leyi Adebayo each added nine points, while Trevon Coppins pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Daniel Haire provided a strong spark off the bench, contributing five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a three-pointer in 18 minutes of play.
Tyrese Conway paced Lehman with 19 points off the bench.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday night when they travel to Medgar Evers College for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
