The nationally ranked No. 7 NYU Violets secured a straight‑set victory over the Baruch Bearcats on Thursday evening, earning a 3–0 win (25–21, 25–17, 25–20) in a non‑conference matchup at the ARC Arena.
Baruch opened the night with early momentum, jumping ahead 3–1 in the first set following a kill from Benjamin Nirenstein. The teams later found themselves deadlocked at 19–19, but NYU closed the frame with a decisive 6–2 run to claim the opener, 25–21.
The Violets carried that energy into the second set, controlling the pace on their way to a 25–17 win.
Refusing to go quietly, Baruch struck early in the third set. A kill by Brennan O'Connor, coupled with two NYU attack errors, briefly lifted the Bearcats to a 7–6 advantage. Baruch remained within striking distance at 17–15 before NYU once again finished strong, scoring eight of the final 11 points to seal the set and complete the sweep.
NYU's offense was guided by standout setter Devyn Nguyen, who recorded 33 assists in the win.
