Melinda Spahou has been named the Baruch Athlete of the Month for January 2019.

This is the first monthly honor for the sophomore from Staten Island, New York.
During January, Spahiu was voted the CUNYAC Player of the Week on January 7 and the regional Met Basketball Writer's Association Player of the Week on January 8.
HIGHLIGHTS
*Averaged a near double-double of 15.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.1 steals, 3.9 assists in nine games.
*Five total double-doubles.
*Scored 19 points (8-13 fg), 10 rebounds at John Jay (1/4).
*Career-high 11 steals in the win at York (1/7) and also tallied seven steals in home win against Lehman (1/12).
*Finished the month with back-to-back 21 point games against Medgar Evers (1/29) and York (1/31).
*Spahiu was in the Top 5 of steals per game in the national Div. III NCAA rankings.
