The Baruch College Bearcats knocked off the Lightning of Lehman College, 8-1, in a CUNY Athletic Conference match up on Friday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The Bearcats won five of six singles and all three doubles to raise their record to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in CUNYAC, while visiting Lehman drops to 3-7 overall and 3-2 in CUNYAC. 

The lone loss for the Bearcats took place in #1 singles as Evauna Neville recorded a 7-5, 6-2 victory for Lehman. 

The Bearcats dominated the rest of the singles with 6-0, 6-0 victories each posted by #5 Shalanda Graham and #6 Mariya Korobkova.

The #1 doubles team of Monika Maiellano and Alexandra Vamanu needed tie-breakers  (8-8, 10-5) to defeat Lehman’s Neville and Aurora Peters. 

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday afternoon with a 2:00 pm road contest in New Jersey against Rutgers-Newark.
