Women's Tennis Finish Second at 2008 CUNYAC Championships

The women's tennis team lost a 5-0 contest to Hunter College in the final of the 2008 CUNYAC Championships that took place on Thursday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The Bearcats, who set two team records this season for consecutive wins (10) and total wins (14), finish in second place for the fourth straight year at the women's tennis conference finals.

The Hawks of Hunter College won all three doubles and two singles victory to clinch the match that concluded with the fifth point.

Singles Results

First: Evgeniya Kim (H) def. Monika Maiellano (B) 6-0, 6-0

Second: Monica Calungcagin (H) led Irina Piskunova (B) 6-2, 3-0 (DNF)

Third: Elizabeth Feldman (H) led Alexanda Vamanu (B) 6-1 (DNF)

Fourth: Mariam Mkrtchyan (B) led Stefanie Smith (H) 5-3 (DNF)

Fifth: Bomi Park (H) def. Shalanda Graham (B) Withdrew

Sixth: Mariya Korobkova (B) led Linda Ravul (H) 4-1 (DNF)

Doubles Results

First: Evgeniya Kim/Stefanie Smith (H) def. Monika Maiellano/Alexanda Vamanu (B) 8-3

Second: Monica Calungcagin/Elizabeth Feldman (H) def. Irina Piskunova/Mariam Mkrtchyan (B) 8-1

Third: Anna Vagner/Linda Ravul (H) def. Shalanda Graham/Mariya Korobkova (B) 9-8 (7-5).
