The women's volleyball team began their home schedule on a positive note with a 3-0 victory against the Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Thursday Night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats, winners of three of their last four matches, were led by Nicole Baruffaldi (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) with 12 kills, five digs and two service aces.

Staren Soanes (Dominica, West Indies/Norman Thomas) had a solid evening with 11 kills, while Kristin Walker (Fayetteville, Arkansas/Fayetteville) dished out 27 assists, three service aces and notched seven digs.

Posey Wilson (Fayetteville, Arkansas/Fayetteville) also had another solid game defensively in leading the surging Bearcats (3-3) with 14 digs.

The Bearcats also recorded an impressive total of 15 services aces this evening.

Meredith Shipman (Sugar Land, TX) led the visiting Blue Jays (3-5) with 10 kills and six digs.

Baruch will return to action on Saturday by competing in the first CUNYAC Multi-Match event of the season. The Bearcats will play against York (11:00 am) and Hunter (3:00 pm) in the CUNYAC Multi-Match to be hosted by Lehman College in the Bronx.
