Women's Volleyball Win One, Drop Two at Ramapo Quad

The women’s volleyball team had a busy day on Saturday competing at the Ramapo College Quad in Mahwah, New Jersey.

 

The Bearcats swept the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (3-0), but fell to FDU-Florham (3-0) and Ramapo (3-1) in tough non-conference matches played today in northern New Jersey.

 

FDU-Florham 3, Baruch 0 (30-19, 30-13, 30-21)

Kristin Walker led the Bearcats with 25 assists and three service aces, while Nicole Baruffaldi notched nine kills and eight digs. Lizmarie Vasquez was solid defensively with 12 digs.

 

Baruch 3, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 0 (30-19, 30-19, 30-21)

Walker led the offense with 25 digs, while Baruffaldi and Staren Soanes each recorded 8 kills to lead the Bearcats to their seventh win of the season.  On the defensive end, Vasquez tallied another 20 digs and Mayra Estepan had 10 digs.

 

Ramapo 3, Baruch 1 (25-10, 26-24, 19-25, 25-19) BOX SCORE

The visiting Bearcats gave the Road Runners all they could handle, especially with solid defense (60 digs), but the home side escaped with a 3-1 victory. The Bearcats put together a solid team effort behind Adianna Clark (8 kills), Baruffaldi (11 kills, 12 digs), Walker (39 assists), Vasquez (14 digs), and Estepan (10 kills).

 

The Bearcats will resume action next Saturday, October 4, by competing at the Roger Williams University Tri-Match in Bristol, Rhode Island.
