The men’s volleyball team wrapped up their participation on Sunday afternoon in the Wisconsin Classic in Milwaukee by splitting their two matches.

The Bearcats defeated local team Carthage College (20-30, 30-26, 30-22, 30-17) and lost to Rivier College of New Hampshire in three (20-30, 28-30, 27-30) to finish second in the tournament.

Against Carthage College, which is ranked sixth in the national American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, Pablo Oliveira led the way with 22 kills, eight digs and three blocks.

Danial Levent notched 11 kills and recorded five blocks, while Radu Wyrwas was busy again with 45 assists and three blocks. Gabriel Rivera came up big defensively with 15 digs.

Against Rivier College, which is ranked 11th in the AVCA poll and fourth regionally in NECVA, Oliveira led again with 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks.

Levent recorded nine kills, seven digs and four blocks. Radu Wyrwas dished out 32 assists and collected six digs.
 
The men’s volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, January 24, when they travel to Utica, New York to compete in the SUNY-IT quad against Hilbert College, D’Youville and the hosts SUNY-IT.
