The women’s basketball team recorded their third straight non-conference road win with a 75-64 victory on Monday night against Richard Stockton College in Pomona, New Jersey.

With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 8-3 overall, while the Ospreys from Richard Stockton College drop to 2-9.

The visiting Bearcats led throughout most of the game against their opponent from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), but had to work hard to stay in front, despite several rallies by the Ospreys to tie the game twice in the second half.

Richard Stockton tied the game (31-31) for the first time on a pair of free throws by Jenn Russell in the opening minute of the second half, but the Bearcats responded in the next three minutes with four 3-pointers (Awa Diop 2, Karlee Whipple 1, Monique Salmon 1) to lead 44-35.

The Ospreys kept charging back to tie the game (44-44) a second time with nine consecutive points, but Shadae Rice broke the tie with one of her four treys to give the Bearcats the lead again with 14:00 minutes left.

Richard Stockton never wavered and managed to cut the deficit to only one point (61-60) on a trey by Aliyah Nelson with 5:28 on the clock, but Baruch quickly responded again by scoring 14 of the final 18 points of the game to walk away with the tough victory on a cold night in southern New Jersey.

Kalea Davis had another double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Karlee Whipple finished with 17 points and four rebounds.

Floor general Monique Salmon had an all-around game with 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Shadae Rice scored 12 points off the bench and Christina Kelly collected 10 rebounds.

Jenn Russell led the home team with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Aliyah Nelson finished with 14 points.
