#10 Baruch 3, New Jersey City 0 (30-27, 30-25, 30-28), Oliveira Leads Bearcats to Victory

The #10-ranked men’s volleyball team swept the Gothic Knights from New Jersey City University in three sets in a tightly contested match on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Gothic Knights (1-1) jumped out to an early 19-8 advantage in the first set, but the Bearcats (8-1) rallied to win, 30-27.

The next two sets were close, as neither team was able to build any significant leads, but the Bearcats clinched the three set victory behind the dominant hitting of Pablo Oliveira with 14 kills (.333), Eryk Kowalski 11 kills (.421), and Ratmir Gorelik with seven kills (.158). 

Ivan Andujar (21 assists) and Radu Wyrwas (20 kills, seven kills) led the overall offensive attack, while Jonathan Tuwaidan totaled six digs on the defensive end.

New Jersey City, which recorded 16 blocks and led on multiple occasions during each set, were led by Austin Bryant with 14 kills.

The men’s volleyball team will travel to California this weekend for a pair of matches against #2-ranked UC-Santa Cruz.

The first match will take place on Friday at 7:00 pm PST (10:00 pm EST), followed by the second match on Saturday at 3:00 pm PST (6:00 pm EST).
