The women’s basketball team recorded a 77-56 CUNYAC road victory on Wednesday night against the Beavers from the City College of New York.

CCNY (7-14, 3-7 CUNYAC) scored the first six points, but the visiting Bearcats (17-4, 10-0 CUNYAC) quickly responded to take an 8-7 lead with 13:52 left in the first half.

The Bearcats would build a comfortable 37-22 halftime advantage and lead by as much as 41-24 during the early part of the second half.

The Beavers made a late run to trail by nine points (54-45) with 8:01 remaining, but Baruch responded by scoring 13 of the next 15 points to lead 67-47 with just under five minutes left. That run was enough to clinch their 18th consecutive win against CCNY.

Monique Salmon led the Bearcats with 24 points and 11 assists, while Kalea Davis (nine rebounds) and Megan Bouwens (10 rebounds) had 16 points each. Christina Kelly finished with 10 rebounds and three steals.

Ashley Straughn led CCNY with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The women’s basketball team will return to action on Saturday, February 6, with a 1:00 pm CUNYAC road contest at the College of Staten Island Dolphins (11-9, 8-2 CUNYAC).
