The #10-ranked men’s volleyball team split their two matches on Sunday in a tri-match in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats began by hosting Stevenson University from Baltimore and overcame an early disadvantage to rally to victory in four sets with scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19.


Christopher Kaimis and Steven Coniglio (six blocks) led the attack with 12 kills each, while Jack McKee notched 11 kills with a .375 hitting percentage. Sam Park contributed five kills by hitting a team-high .400. Nick Smith dished out 43 assists.

Stevenson jumped out to the opening set 25-21 victory by hitting.278, but struggled the rest of match to finish hitting only .197. The Bearcats ended better by hitting .333 in the fourth set to clinch the home non-conference victory.

In the second match against #11-ranked Medaille of Buffalo, the Bearcats were swept in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.

Medaille hit for a .338 hitting percentage overall, including .524 in the third set to close out the victory between two teams ranked in the AVCA Division III Top 15.

Coniglio led the Bearcats with eight kills by hitting .389. Kaimis and McKee finished with seven kills each.
Taylor Higgs totaled five digs in the tough loss.

The men’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, January 31, with a 7:00 pm non-conference match at Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
