Women's Basketball Win Home Opener, Defeat CCNY (81-30)

The Baruch College Bearcats jumped out to 15-2 lead and never looked back en route to an 81-30 CUNYAC victory over CCNY on Friday evening in the ARC Arena.

For the second time this season, every player scored to help the team stay perfect at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC.

The Bearcats shot 49 percent (34-69), scored 31 points off 26 CCNY turnovers, and dominated the paint with a 50-8 advantage to record the victory in their first home game of the season.


Francess Henry led the way with 16 points in 21 minutes of action. Jessica Duleba (13 pts, 10 rbs), Imani Davidson (6-6 fg, 13 pts, 6 rbs), Iyana Abrams (12 pts, 4 asst) and Sheridan Taylor (10 pts, 9 rbs, 2 stls) all contributed in double-figures.

Dona Sansone (5 pts, 7 rbs), Jasmine Smarr (5 stl) and Lynda Fields (6 asst) all had a solid game off the bench.

Syreeta Williams almost notched a double-double for CCNY (1-6, 1-2 CUNYAC) with nine points and 10 rebounds.

The Bearcats will quickly return to action tomorrow, Saturday, December 8, with a 1:00 pm non-conference home contest against the Bombers of Ithaca College (5-0) from the Empire 8 Conference.

After the game, the team will host their first annual women’s basketball alumni game.
