Women's Tennis Lose Highly Competitive Match to Farmingdale State (5-4)

9/14/2012 8:26:00 PM

The women’s tennis team lost a tough 5-4 non-conference match to Farmingdale State University on Friday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York.

The home team Rams from the Skyline Conference started by winning two of the three doubles for the 2-1 advantage. The two teams battled in the six singles encounters that ended with a 3-3 split enabling the Rams to record the 5-4 overall match victory.

Due to the doubles matches lasting over two hours and the threat of darkness as the evening approached, the two teams played an eight game pro set in the singles encounters.

Jennafer Mukofsky and Lisa Kurner won their second doubles match in an exciting tie-breaker 9-8 (7-5). Mukofsky followed up with a victory at third singles with the score of 8-1, while Kurner won at fifth singles, 8-2.

Amanda Naraine won at sixth singles, 8-2, to round out the three winning points for the team in the singles format.

The women’s tennis team will return to action on Tuesday, September 18, with a 3:30 pm CUNYAC home match against John Jay College at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
