The women's tennis team lost a 6-3 non-conference contest to William Paterson University in a competitive home match played on Saturday afternoon at the York College Tennis Courts in Jamaica, New York.

The visiting Pioneers (4-2) began by winning the three doubles and followed with three of the six singles for the 6-3 final score.

The Bearcats (2-3) won their three singles in very exciting and long encounters. Patricia Gomes Correia was victorious at #1 singles in a tie-break of 6-1, 5-7, 10-7.
 
Amandine Le Goupil-Maier also won in tie-break at #2 singles with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 10-4.

Elizavetta Glotova, a two sport-athlete who will also compete in women's swimming, won at #6 singles with a solid score of 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

The women's tennis team will return to action on Monday, September 24, with a 6:00 pm rescheduled home match against John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the U.S. National Tennis Center. The two teams were originally scheduled to play on September 18, but the match was rained out.
