#13 Men's Volleyball Defeat #9 M.I.T., Daniel Webster to Start 4-0 in New Hampshire

The men's volleyball team won all four of their matches this weekend at the “Live Free or Die Invitational” in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Bearcats are 4-0 to start the season, which included victories over pre-season ranked (7) Rivier College and (9) M.I.T.

They finish as co-champions with SUNY-New Paltz, who also finished the invitational with a 4-0 record against the competition field.

Following victories on Saturday against Rivier and Endicott, the Bearcats began Sunday morning by sweeping host Daniel Webster College with scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-20.


Steven Coniglio notched nine kills, Chris Kaimis knocked down seven, and both Jack McKee and Aviv Elias added six kills each in the morning victory. Brian Coniglio dished out 31 assists as Baruch hit .311 for the entire match.

In perhaps the Invitational’s closest played match, the Bearcats and M.I.T Engineers staged 46 ties and 20 lead changes as Baruch won with five set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-27, 24-22.
 
Steven Coniglio finished with 15 kills and seven total blocks (five solo), while
Nick Smith notched 12 kills and a team-high 22 digs.

Gabe Rivera, Martin Joksimovik, and Jack McKee (six blocks) notched nine kills apiece in the arduous match.
 
The Bearcats finished with a 58-45 advantage in kills and hit .184, while MIT hit .164.

The men's volleyball team will now enjoy a brief break in their schedule and return to action on Tuesday, February 5, with a 7:00 pm non-conference match at the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in Jersey City, New Jersey.
