The men's volleyball team suffered a five-set heart-breaking loss to #1-ranked Springfield College Pride in the semifinals of the 2013 NCAA Championship on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, New York.

The loss ends the Bearcats' outstanding season with a 34-6 record, while the Pride win their 25th straight match to improve to 31-3.

The Bearcats stumbled out of the gate and were down 2-0 following 25-22, 25-18 scores. Despite the strong play by the Pride, the Bearcats never lost their composure and came back with strong serving, hitting and blocking to tie the match at 2-2 with 25-18, 25-22 scores. 

They hit .355 in the third set and .323 in the fourth to surprise their opponent from Massachusetts.

The Pride started the fifth set by jumping out to a 4-0 lead, but the Bearcats would slowly battle back to get as close as 11-10 on a kill by
Jack McKee. The Pride would later lead 14-12 with match point, but Bearcats got close again at 14-13 on a service error.

Unfortunately, the Pride finished the exciting match with a kill to return to play in the championship on Sunday afternoon against the weekend host #2-ranked Nazareth College.
