Women's Tennis Wins CUNYAC Regular Season Championship, Defeat Rival Hunter (7-2)

The women's tennis team had a Columbus Day to remember by defeating rival Hunter, 7-2, in a CUNYAC contest played on a sunny Monday afternoon at the York College Tennis Courts in Jamaica, New York.

The win clinches their third-ever CUNYAC Regular Season Championship (First Place) in the long history of Baruch women's tennis. The also defeat Hunter for the first time in over 20 years.

Furthermore, they earn a quarterfinal round bye in the CUNYAC Championship Tournament.

Daria Vasekina, the Baruch Athlete of the Month for September, and Isabel Arias each shut out their opponent in singles (6-0, 6-0).

Allie Jackson-Hing set the tone early with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles. Hayley Bester won at fourth singles to help create the big win.

Eight players combined for today's big victory and accomplishment.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday with a CUNYAC home contest against CCNY. First serve at the York College Tennis Courts is set for 3:30 pm.
