CUNYAC Women's Quarterfinal: Baruch 104, CCNY 61

Game MVP Veronica Ganzi scored 26 points to lead the women's basketball team to a 104-61 CUNYAC ARMY ROTC Championship quarterfinal round win over CCNY on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

With the result, the Bearcats advance to the semifinal round on Tuesday, February 21, to play rival Hunter College with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 pm at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium.  Tickets to all games in the tournament are free of charge, but fans must register online in advance for the semifinal and championship games at CCNY via www.cunyathletics.com/tickets.

Ganzi filled up the stats sheet by shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 5-for-8 from three point range for her 26 points.
Iyana Abrams scored a season-high 20 points to go along with eight assists and five steals.

The game was competitive early with the Bearcats leading 14-10, but they broke it wide open with 10 straight points midway through the first half for the playoff win to improve to 22-4 overall.

"This is a very exciting time of the year with the postseason championship tournament," said Interim Head Coach KellyAnn Barrett. "We are going to really work hard the next two days to prepare to play Hunter in the semifinals."

The visiting Beavers (5-21) shot 36 percent in the loss. Tiara Brown led their team with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Robin Daley had 15 points.
