Women's Tennis Defeats Lehman in CUNYAC Opener

The women's tennis team won their CUNYAC opener and improved to 2-0 overall on the young season schedule with a 5-3 win against Lehman College on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

The Bearcats started with two of three doubles wins led by Allie Jackson-Hing and Isabel Arias combining for an 8-3 victory at the first flight. Franziska Goetz and Maria Scherbakova won at third, 8-2.

The Bearcats won at second (Isabel Arias 6-3, 6-0), third (Hayley Bester 6-1, 6-2) and fifth (Frzsika Goetz 6-0, 6-0) in the singles competition to clinch the conference win.

The sixth singles needed a tie-break, but was unable to finish due to rain and unplayable court conditions.

The team will return to action on Thursday, September 15, with a 4 p.m. CUNYAC match at Brooklyn College.
