Men's Soccer Defeats CCNY, Advance to Saturday's CUNYAC Semifinal vs Hunter

The men's soccer team recorded a 4-1 CUNYAC quarterfinal playoff home victory against the Beavers of CCNY on Wednesday night at Randall's Island Field #10.

The Bearcats scored two goals in each half to take control to advance to Saturday's CUNYAC semifinal against Hunter College, which is confirmed for 12:00 p.m. at Randall's Island Field #70.

The Bearcats out-shot the Beavers 20-3 and scored early at 14:12 via Arman Celebi (goal #11) on an assist by Ruslan Semenko.

They quickly scored their second six minutes later through Daniel Fomenko (goal #6) on Julio Ramirez's team-leading sixth assist of the season.

CCNY kept it interesting with a goal by Cheik Diakite at 33:36 to send the quarterfinal into halftime with a 2-1 score.

The Beavers pushed for the tying goal in the second half but a Fomenko penalty kick (goal #7) at 59:51 and another Celebi goal (goal #12) at 76:02 finished off the 4-1 playoff victory.
