The Baruch College Bearcats traveled to Union, New Jersey on Friday to compete in the Kean Clash, hosted by Kean University. The Bearcats battled throughout the evening but ultimately dropped a pair of hard-fought matches that included a nationally-ranked opponent.
The Bearcats opened the night with a neutral-site matchup against No. 19 Lasell University. They showed flashes of strong play but fell in straight sets, 3–0 (15–25, 22–25, 18–25). Peter Gavroff led the offense with seven kills, while Omar Noaman added four. Setter Ari Osmanaj orchestrated the attack with nine assists and contributed defensively with eight digs. For Lasell, Branch Barnes paced the effort with eight kills and eight digs.
In their second match of the night, the Bearcats faced the host Kean University. They again competed closely in each set but suffered another 3–0 setback (21–25, 23–25, 20–25). Gavroff once again led the team, recording a team-high 13 kills. Ari Osmanaj remained active on both sides of the ball with eight kills and seven digs, while Valentin Rodriguez dished out 12 assists. Defensively, Zachary Yao chipped in with eight digs. Kean was led by Aisan Flynn, who posted 10 kills.
The Bearcats will look to bounce back quickly, returning to action on Saturday at the Kean Clash when they take on No. 3-ranked Juniata College in a neutral-site match scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
