Men's Volleyball Establishes New Team Record With 30 Wins, CUNYAC Tournament Starts Tuesday Night

The men’s volleyball team won both of their matches in the Elms College Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

The Bearcats swept Daniel Webster College of New Hampshire in three (30-13, 30-22, 30-14), followed by a four set victory (30-26, 25-30, 30-23, 300-27) against the tri-match hosts Elms College.

With the two non-conference victories, the men’s volleyball team finishes their regular season schedule with a 30-9 record. The 30 wins are a team record, which surpasses the previous mark of 29 wins from the 2006 season.

Pablo Oliveira led the Bearcats against Daniel Webster with 10 kills, while Jonathan Tuwaidan dished out a team-high 22 assists.

Against Elms College, Danial Levent and Oliveira notched 18 kills each to lead a one-two punch against the Blazers. Radu Wyrwas recorded 51 assists and Matt McKee had seven total blocks.

The men’s volleyball team will now turn their attention to the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference Tournament Championship that begins on Tuesday, March 24, with a 6:00 pm home quarterfinal match in the ARC Arena against Medgar Evers College.
