Men's Volleyball Defeats Elms & New Paltz to Finish First in New Paltz Invitational

The men’s volleyball team defeated Elms College and New Paltz State on Saturday in New Paltz, New York.

The 10th-ranked Bearcats (7-1) started the afternoon by sweeping Elms College (0-4) with scores of 30-14, 30-12, and 30-21.

Vincent Cruz led the attack with 15 kills (.667), Jan Wojdat had 10 kills (.500), and Sam Park finished with eight kills and seven assists.

Ivan Andujar collected 26 assists, six digs, and one service ace in the victory. 

In the second match, the Bearcats clinched first place in the invitational by defeating the hosts New Paltz State (1-3) in four sets (27-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-27).

Pablo Oliveira continued his solid start to the season with 30 kills (.396), while Eryk Kowalski totaled 16 kills (.560) and five block assists.

Jonathan Tuwaidan (16 digs), Radu Wyrwas (10 kills (.318), 29 assists, eight digs, two aces) and Andujar (33 digs) all contributed to the team’s big win.

The men’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday with their home opener against New Jersey City University. First serve is scheduled for the recently updated time of 7:00 pm.
