#7 Men's Volleyball Finish With 1-3 Record at New Paltz Tournament

The #7-ranked men’s volleyball team lost three of four matches this past weekend at the Hawks Tournament in New Paltz, New York.

The Bearcats began Sunday by losing to #14-ranked Emmanuel by competitive scores of 25-22, 32-30, 26-24. Eryk Kowalski led the way with 14 kills.

In the second match, the team earned their first victory of the season by sweeping Elms College with scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.
Arnold Situmeang led the team with 12 kills (.750) and Vincent Cruz had 11 kills (.350).

Freshman Jack McKee was named to the All-Tournament Team.


The men's volleyball team will resume action and play their home opener on Wednesday, January 26, with a 7:00 pm non-conference home match against Ramapo College.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 22

The visiting Bearcats (0-2) began Saturday by taking on the host of the weekend tournament New Paltz State and suffered a 3-0 sweep with scores of 25-22, 25-19, 27-25.

Senior
Eryk Kowalski led the Bearcats in the opening match with 14 kills and 12 digs, while junior Vincent Cruz tallied eight kills (.583). Sophomore Jesus Echevarria finished with 32 assists and a team-high 14 digs.

In the second afternoon match against #8-ranked MIT, the Bearcats were swept with scores of 27-25, 25-23, 25-17.

Freshman
Jack McKee led Baruch with nine kills (.375) and seven total digs. Echevarria dished out 22 assists in an early season battle between the two ranked teams. With the victory, MIT improves their record to 6-0 on the season.
