The #13-ranked men’s volleyball team is competing this weekend at the Endicott Invitational hosted by Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The visiting Bearcats began invitational play on Saturday by defeating SUNY-IT in four sets. 

SUNY-IT won the first set (25-22), but the Bearcats rebounded to win the next three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-22.

Eryk Kowalski (.560) and Pablo Oliveira notched 11 kills each, while Steven Coniglio contributed eight kills (.500). Jesus Echevarria dished out 27 assists and Takeshi Kawahigashi totaled six digs in the opening match victory.

In the second match of the afternoon, the Bearcats defeated Vassar in four sets to stretch their current winning streak to five.

The Bearcats started again by losing the first set (25-19), but bounced back with competitive 27-25, 27-25, 25-23 scores to defeat Vassar for the first time in team history.

Oliveira led the way again offensively with 17 kills, while Kowalski recorded 15 kills. Echevarria (41 assists), Vincent Cruz (seven kills) and Nick Smith (eight digs) all contributed to the victory.

The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday in the second day of the Endicott Invitational by taking on #7-ranked MIT at 1:00 pm, followed by #12-ranked Emmanuel at 3:00 pm.
