Men's Volleyball Sweep Ramapo, Bearcats Ranked #9 in Latest AVCA Div. III Poll

The #9-ranked men’s volleyball team swept the Road Runners of Ramapo College in a non-conference match played on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (11-9) won with scores of 26-24, 25-14, 25-19 to stretch their winning streak to eight matches. They totaled 44 kills for a solid hitting percentage of .368, while Ramapo (7-7) totaled 29 kills for a .152 hitting percentage.

Pablo Oliveira (.435) and Eryk Kowalski (.667) led Baruch this evening with 13 kills each. Vincent Cruz (1.000) did not a record an error in finishing with five kills.

Jesus Echevarria dished out 36 assists and collected eight digs on the defensive end. Nick Smith had another outstanding match with a team-high 11 digs.

Jeff Jones led Ramapo in the loss with 10 kills (.562) and four digs.

The Bearcats, who moved up four spots this week to #9 in the AVCA Division III poll, will return to action on Thursday, February 17th, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC match at Medgar Evers College. 

TEAM NOTES: Baruch and Ramapo were initially scheduled to play on January 26, but the match was postponed by a snow storm…For the second time this week, the Bearcats defeated an opponent for the first time in team history. This past Saturday, they defeated Vassar and tonight they defeated Ramapo for the first time…Echevarria recorded his 1,000 career college assist this past weekend at the Endicott Tournament…For the second consecutive week, Oliveira was named the CUNYAC Player of the Week. STORY...The next five matches will be against CUNYAC opposition.
