Bearcats Defeat Philadelphia Biblical, Team Now Ranked #12 in Latest Div. III Poll

The men's volleyball team overcame a slow start to defeat Philadelphia Biblical University in four sets in a non-conference match played on Tuesday night in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

The Bearcats narrowly dropped the opening set, 26-24, but rallied to win the next three with scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 to wrap up the road victory. The team finished hitting .364 in the final set to finish the match strong.

Philadelphia Biblical totaled 46 kills this evening but struggled hitting only .125. The Bearcats totaled 40 kills for a .209 hitting percentage.

The Bearcats received a solid team effort with four players recording at least six kills each.
Steven Coniglio led the attack with nine kills hitting .400. Vincent Cruz (eight kills, five blocks), Christopher Kaimis (seven kills) and Sam Park (six kills) all contributed to the attack.

Nick Smith dished out 34 assists and Taylor Higgs recorded a team-high with 14 digs.  The Bearcats improve to 3-2 on the young regular season schedule.

Noah Prickett led the home team with 16 kills and 13 digs.

Earlier in the day, the Bearcats discovered they are ranked #12 in the latest weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Poll.

They will return to action on Saturday morning as they begin their CUNYAC schedule with the first conference multi-match of the regular season. The Bearcats will battle Brooklyn (11:00 am) and John Jay (1:00 pm) in a multi-match to be hosted by Hunter College.
