#15 Bearcats Easily Sweep Brooklyn and #13 New Paltz to Stretch Win Streak to Four

The #15-ranked men’s volleyball team swept a pair of home matches on Thursday night in the ARC Arena to extend their winning streak to four.

The Bearcats began play with a CUNYAC match against Brooklyn College and recorded a 25-11, 25-10, 25-13 victory to raise their conference record to 8-1.

The Bearcats dominated the action by hitting .492 with 35 kills, compared to a negative hitting percent (-0.77) with 15 kills by the visiting Bulldogs.


Steven Coniglio led the attack with 10 kills hitting .643. Jack McKee totaled six kills hitting .500, while Danny Olson dished out 32 assists. Gabe Rivera also had a solid match with five kills hitting .400.

In the second match against #13-ranked SUNY-New Paltz, the Bearcats hit again for a solid percentage of .462 to record a 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 sweep.

The team had a balanced scoring attack with five different players recording at least eight kills.


Christopher Kaimis (.538), Vincent Cruz (.667) and Steven Coniglio (.467) each had eight kills, while Nick Smith and Jack McKee (.412) finished with nine kills each to lead the team.

Danny Olson was busy again dishing out 35 assists in the home victory.

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 20, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC home match against CCNY.
