#15 Bearcats Lose to #7 Nazareth, New Paltz in Final Day of Vassar Invitational

Vassar Invitational Results and Final Standing

The men's volleyball team lost their two matches on Saturday at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, New York.

For the 12th time this season, the Bearcats played a nationally-ranked opponent. They began the day playing #7-ranked Nazareth and suffered a three set loss with scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-12.

Nazareth totaled 39 kills hitting .321, while the Bearcats had 23 kills hitting .121.


Vincent Cruz led the Bearcats with four block assists and seven kills hitting .385. Danny Olson dished out 16 assists and collected six digs.

In the second match, the Bearcats lost a competitive four set encounter to the Hawks of SUNY-New Paltz. The Hawks won the first two sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-16, but the Bearcats fought back in the third set to win 25-23. The Hawks won the fourth set, 25-22, by hitting .310 to clinch the victory.


Jack McKee led the attack with 17 kills, two aces and two block assists. Aviv Elias had a solid match with seven kills, four digs and one block assist. Christopher Kaimis totaled seven digs.

For his efforts in the four matches of the invitational, Vincent Cruz was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, April 3, with a 7:00 pm non-conference home match against #5-ranked NYU. Prior to the match, the team will honor
Sam Park and Vincent Cruz on Senior Night.
