#10 Men's Volleyball Defeat York in Four (25-17, 21-25, 28-26, 25-13)

The #10-ranked men's volleyball team won a hard fought CUNYAC match defeating the Cardinals of York College in four sets on a windy night in Jamaica, New York.

The Bearcats won the opening set 25-17, but the Cardinals (14-6, 5-2 CUNYAC) battled back to win the second set 25-21.

The third set was difficult as the Bearcats found themselves trailing 26-25 and a point away from dropping the set, but a kill by
Steven Coniglio and two attack errors by York helped the Bearcats (12-3, 4-0 CUNYAC) prevail 28-26.

They won the fourth set in convincing fashion, 25-13, by hitting .680 to walk off with the tough victory.


Nick Smith led the attack this evening with 14 kills and seven digs. Jack McKee had 13 kills with three blocks, while Coniglio finished with 11 kills (.409) and five blocks.

Yanni Malo narrowly missed double-figures with nine kills hitting .357.
Scott Standring was busy again dishing out 47 assists and three aces to help the visiting Bearcats avert the upset by the Cardinals.

Sebastien Francois led the Cardinals with 10 kills (.533) and eight digs.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday with a pair of matches in Springfield, Massachusetts. They will battle #2-ranked and defending national champion Springfield College at 12:00 pm, followed by Mount Ida at 2:00 pm.
