The men's soccer team defeated rival Hunter College Hawks, 1-0, in a CUNYAC home contest played on Saturday afternoon at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

With the result, the Bearcats improve to 9-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 (13pts) in the CUNYAC standings, which is good at the present time for third place.

The Bearcat automatically clinch a top four spot in the conference standings and will host a CUNYAC Tournament quarterfinal round game on Wednesday, October 29, against an opponent to be determined.

As expected, the two rivals played a competitive contest and it was not until the 67th minute that the Bearcats were able to score.
Edward Humphreys fired a cross into the box that found Robert Aronov to score the only goal of the afternoon.

The Bearcats out-shot the visiting Hawks, 17-11, behind the efforts of
Kevin Romero (five shots). Urim Bibovic and William Rosales finished with three shots each.

The Baruch defense was the big star of the afternoon again in posting the shutout. The defense is currently on a streak of 292 minutes without allowing a goal, since York scored in the 88th minute on October 8.

Helder Correia earned the win with six saves. Peter DiBona came off the bench late to finish the action.

Fausto Perez, who forced Correia into a big save late in the match, led the Hawks with four shots.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, October 22, with a 5:00 pm CUNYAC home contest against CCNY. Please note this match will be played at Randall's Island Field #10.
